We all know that technology and water are not the best of friends! So what happens when you work with water and keeping in touch could save a life?
Waterfield Leisure Centre set in Melton Mowbray Leicestershire. Waterfield Leisure Centre offers the local community the chance to engage in the latest fitness activities. The leisure centre features two swimming pools, a 75 station gym, a group exercise studio, a group cycling studio and a multi purpose meeting room.
Overall the leisure centre employs around 50 members of staff as well as casual workers and is open 7 days a week, 362 days a year. There are over 10,000 visitors to the centre per month.
Previously, Waterfield used analogue radios which were found to be noisy and very unclear. The equipment also had black spots, some interference from local taxi companies and the radios themselves were not submersible which proved problematic.
The new equipment needed to –
- Be submersible
- Clear communication
- Rugged and robust
- Cover the whole site
Repairs also needed to be as cost effective as possible.
Zycomm recommended x4 Hytera PD705LT's on a 3 year rental with battery swap out, 1 belt clip and 1 aerial over the term.
The new equipment means that the life guard, reception, duty manager and side pool can now communicate more effectively and clearly.
The Duty Manager at Waterfields explains - “We can now go to extremities without worrying that we will be out of contact.” The new system now covers the complete area and the radios are submersible so that should the worst happen around the pool, staff can rescue without any delay or worry about long term damage to equipment. Ultimately, general health and safety on site has been significantly improved for both visitors and staff.
